RAGT Energie welcomed the BiWEM students for a hands-on training session on biomass grinding and pelletizing. Specialized in biomass valorization as an energy source, RAGT Energie has a long experience in formulating solid biofuels from agricultural by-products to prevent bottom ash formation and corrosive emission during biomass combustion. BiWEM students became aware of the difficulty of grinding such heterogeneous materials, whose properties depend on species, cultivation method, location… They also experienced the positive influence of pelletizing on the energy density of the material, which is a major bottleneck in biomass energy production.
